Ray is a leading citizen of Grace Point, though a quiet one. Keeping his thoughts and points of view to himself until appropriate to share.

Ray is a Vietnam veteran who enlisted and started his term of service in June of 1966. In the early part of 1967 Ray was captured by enemy forces and served 4 years in a Vietnam prison camp. Along with 5 other US soldiers, Ray was rescued in 1971 returning home to Grace Point.

It was shortly after his return Ray met and married Arlis Landon. Together they had 3 children and have 2 grandchildren. Arlis passed on in 2011.

Ray became a minister to the Gospel of Christ, serving others in whatever position he was called to fill. Ray and Arlis shared the word of the Lord through Bible studies, home fellowship, traveling for a a period as an evangelist. Because of their deep concern for the lost and hurting they help found “Open Hearts” the area’s only mission house for the homeless. He spent 15 years as pastor at The Grace Point Community church before retiring from the pastoral ship shortly after Arlis’ death. Ray continues to serve people in whatever capacity he feels he is being called to.

Ray continues to reside in the family home, is an expert gardener and apiarist. He also has the most magnfisent orchard in the Keweenaw peninsula.

Ray is also a member of the “Bowling Gang” as well as its primary instigator in practical jokes. Not only can he create a good laugh but Ray is also able to man up at being the target of a good laugh being created by his fellow gang members.
